LiteSteel beam was developed in response to demand for a light structural beam with the strength of steel and the ease of use afforded by timber. More than six years of research and development went into the creation of the current LSB shape followed by extensive testing by the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Sydney and The Faculty of Built Environment and Engineering at the Queensland University of Technology.

The innovative cold forming manufacturing process gives LSB a unique profile with a flat, thin web and two hollow flanges. It is made from a single strip of DuoSteel (380/450 grade) using patented simultaneous dual electric resistance welding technology. This process provides maximum structural performance in terms of load carrying capacity, bending moment and deflection from the amount of steel employed. The unique profile gives the torsional rigidity you would normally expect from hot rolled steel sections.
